Before you choose · Compatibility

Start with the right controller.

Unity works with supported lighting-controller integrations, including compatible WLED-based setups using the Unity/LumiSync connection. Compatibility must be checked for the specific controller and firmware. A WLED label, Wi-Fi connection or LED fixture alone does not establish Unity support.

Bring these details to your installer

The controller translates software instructions into the signals your lights use. Its model, firmware and configured outputs determine what can be controlled. The LEDs and power equipment also need to match the physical installation.

  • Controller manufacturer and exact model.
  • Installed firmware name and version.
  • How the controller connects to Unity and receives updates.
  • LED type, configured outputs and independently controlled areas.
  • The colors, effects, custom palettes and schedules you expect to use.

Check each feature you intend to use

A controller may support everyday color control while needing a firmware update for another feature. Unity identifies custom-palette availability where the device capability is known. Preview a proposed look, apply it to the intended device and check its reported state before relying on it.

A property’s location and time zone are needed for sunrise and sunset schedules. Network availability also matters: a saved schedule or accepted request cannot guarantee delivery to an offline controller.

Understand the boundaries of an integration

WLED-compatible outdoor control and the separate LIFX connection have different workflows. The current LIFX integration connects with a personal access token to list and control power for that session; it does not import those lights into Unity properties or schedules.

Do not assume an existing proprietary roofline system, conventional low-voltage transformer or plug-in holiday string can be connected. Ask for a demonstration with your exact equipment before purchasing or changing an installation.

Already have a Unity account?

Open your workspace, select the property and inspect the device details. If you need help, submit a support request with the property and device selected. Include the controller model and firmware version, but never include passwords or pairing codes.

Common questions

Is every WLED controller supported?

No. The controller needs the appropriate supported firmware and connection to Unity. Confirm the exact setup and required features with your installer.

Does a successful preview confirm that my lights changed?

No. The preview represents the intended look. The device’s reported state and the physical lights provide confirmation after a change is applied.

Where can I find pricing or arrange installation?

Ask your lighting supplier or installer for a written scope covering hardware, installation, maintenance and any software charges. This site does not publish a universal installed price or a verified local installer directory.
